4-to-10(-ish) - Ep 3: What Pen...?

Answering a question I still get a lot that goes back to the first video I made on handwriting. Apologies for the video quality. My camera had some incorrect ideas about exposure and I had to compensate in post. *sigh* Scarves in the background: New Mexico United (the local team); Portland Thorns FC (the NWSL club team I root for); Sevilla Futbol Club (brother gifted me after visiting an ancest...

Art Nugget: My Basic Palette (and more)

I'm still having some technical issues, but what the heck, I'll post this anyway. Artists tend to settle in to a stable...er...stable of paints that they like to use. Oft times, their palette is home to a small number of colors most of the time. I'm no different. Here are the colors I tend to reach for whenever art is about to be perpetrated. FAQ: What is that Green Thing?
Переглядів 2,1 тис.5 років тому
One of my most Frequently Asked Questions is what that green thing was at the beginning of one of the Roundhand videos. I figured I'd make my life a little easier if I made a video I could send everyone to. Just a short video this time. We're in the middle of chile season here in NM. As time-consuming as that is, it was made worse by the freezer in which we store that chile deciding that it did...
Vulgar Cursive - Episode 01

Welcome to the first episode of the "Vulgar Cursive" series. The series that aims to guide you toward the sort of cursive writing that you want to do and that others are easily able to read. While the preferred ways to get there will be encouraged, as long as what you write is legible, I'm not going to be persnickety about how you get there it would be like the proverbial pot calling the kettle...

Something with these videos just clicked with me and now my handwriting has gotten so much better always wanted to be able to write in such a way through high school and university but always struggled these demonstrated how it’s possible and varying individuality between those writing styles glad to say it’s been 3 days and i have seen a significant improvement through the use of some practice sheets found in Pinterest

Cursive is way faster than printing, you allowed yourself to become sloppy which is why your writing became illegible. With proper technique and discipline it is possible to write both quickly and legibly in a cursive style. My grandfather could write write beautiful english roundhand almost as fast as I can write simple cursive, it is just down to practice and having standards.

I’ve always written in a cursive style, but it’s not always been neat, due mainly to lack of practice and haste. I used to write notes for my mates to get them out of school. I did start concentrating on my hand writing style when I started doing poetry. I wrote a books worth in quite a short time and also purchased a variety of coloured inks to make life less boring. I’ve never had an expensive fountain pen, my daily writer being in the region of £10, but I did get a box full of fountain pens off a mate with iridium nibs. I have a couple I used regularly but would really like to try an expensive pen one day, just to see what it’s like. Anyway I like to think that attractive hand writing says something about a person. When I look at other peoples’ hand writing it looks like they never went to school, and these are people in quite senior positions! A few years ago a friend showed me his son’s report card from school. I commented questioningly that these progressive schools are allowing eleven year olds write their own reports now? He said “No, that’s the teacher’s writing, you need to read the comment!”. I couldn’t believe it, the writing was so juvenile.

As someone from the Philippines, children are forced to use cursive rather than print, we often get points removed in hand written essays when not using cursive etc. etc. I'm currently in the 5th grade and i adore handwritings or penmanship's like these, i would say my handwriting looks as if a founding fathers handwriting due to my obsession with dark academia.

I stopped using cursive because we were forced to stop using pencils in high school, and ballpoints just aren't compatible with cursive. The high pressure needed causes the writer to conserve his hand strength with block writing.

Funny how I was taught to write cursive for Ukrainian and print writing for English in school. Though Cyrillic cursive always felt awful and English cursive always appealed to me, and now I am mostly write cursive for latin letters and a Frankenstein the hell out of my Cyrillic handwriting.

Ironically he only ever wrote on the odd occasion, he was always busy working. Want to start this week developing my own as it looks like a dogs dinner currently.
